Tell the story......

... David is a British television director and producer, having worked in television since the mid 1990s. His work has ranged across high-end drama to prime-time TV series, with work such as The Life and Adventures of Nick Nickleby, Wycliffe, Band of Gold, Daylight Robbery, Liverpool 1, Minder, At Home With The Braithwaites, Born & Bred, Lark Rise To Candleford and series four of the highly acclaimed series Auf Wiedersehen, Pet. He’s also directed continuing dramas such as Casualty,  Shakespeare and Hathaway and the Dumping Ground, and was the director for the poignant final episode of the BAFTA winning drama series Holby City.

He primarily focuses on performance-lead storytelling, creating clear and concise ways of driving the narrative, and is an advocate for helping actors achieve emotional truth. When he’s not behind a monitor or on set, he spends his time restoring classic Norton Commando motorcycles and walking his two black labradors.

Show Reels

These are edited versions, generally between 3 and 5 minutes, of  dramas David has directed, the idea being to show the tone and flavour of the stories, rather than one gigantic showreel, which would be so general it would serve no purpose. Each video can be viewed in the poster box, as a PIP, or expanded to full screen.

Shakespeare and Hathaway

5 mins of  'Die We Must'  by James Cary, starring Mark Benton and Jo Joyner, with guests Christopher Fairbank and Clive Russell.

The very last of New Tricks

5:53 mins of the last 2 eps, 'Life Expectancy' by Tahsin Guner, starring Tamsin Outhwaite, Denis Lawson, Nicholas Lyndhurst and Larry Lamb, with guests David Haig and Denise Gough. And 'The Crazy Gang' by Chris Murray, with guests Geraldine Somerville, Meera Syal, Lorraine Ashbourne and Sara Jane Potts.

The Life and Adventures of Nick Nickleby

1:39 min promo for the 5 part series, by Joy Wilkinson, starring Andrew Simpson, Adrian Dunbar, Linda Bassett, Jonathan Harden and Jayne Wisener.

Larkrise to Candleford

3:00 mins of Ep 8, by Rachel Bennette, starring Julia Sawalha, Olivia Hallinan, Matilda Zeigler, and Mark Heap. With guest Hattie Morahan.

Auf Wiedersehen, Pet

2:43 of Eps. 4,5 & 6, by Ian La Frenais and Dick Clement, starring Kevin Whately, Jimmy Nail, Timothy Spall, Tim Healy, Christopher Fairbank, Noel Clarke and Pat Roach.

Minder

2:17 min promo for the series, by Tim Loane, starring Shane Richie, Lex Shrapnel, and Jenna Russell.
